136. Grapes of Wrath
Grapes of Wrath 1940 Directed by John Ford I really don't want to talk about this movie. It was really long and really boring and I am tired. So...yeah.
RATING: *----
I am not sure if I actually ever saw this entire movie--however, I loved the book. That book has stayed with me all my life. I read it about 40 years ago and I do wonder if I would still feel the same if I read it now. I know you said the movie is boring, but I think I may still give it a try. Thanks for the comments, though. You are always interesting to read!
Ugh, I feel the same way. I do have to say it was interesting to see the Depression on screen. They don't really show that a lot in the films from the book. I guess Gold Diggers of 1933 but that's not the same...
I am sorry you felt this way about this movie. I was quite excited about it and found it a lot more engrossing than I expected. It is subversive in a way that was almost entirely eradicated from Hollywood 10 years later.

ReplyDeleteThe book I think is on my book list, so maybe I will enjoy that version better.

ReplyDeleteOh my god, I forgot how lazy I was with this review. Yikes. Give me Gold Diggers any day.

ReplyDeleteI think it was because I disliked the book so much. I think the movie was actually better.
DeleteI liked this quite a bit, Jane Darwell was fantastic in it and I am getting rather fond of Henry Fonda!
